FOUNDER

Michael “MOOSE” Shannos

Michael Shannos, AKA The Moose, is the founder and Head Coach of Strength Community.

Michael comes from a long line of strength athletes, his Grandfather is Arthur Shannos, Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist and competed at 5 Olympic Games.

Michael’s fitness journey began in 2016. Michael weighed in at 212kg and was on a path to an early grave. With the assistance of Brendan Andrews of FFF, Michael changed his life losing a staggering 100kg. This life changing event not only saved Michael’s life but re-sparked Michael’s love of powerlifting. Michael now competes at the highest level of powerlifting and is chasing the 1000kg total.

“I started Strength Community because of how beneficial strength training had been for myself. Strength Training saved my life. It taught me so much and gave me the confidence in life I’d never had. It also introduced me to a community of people with such commitment and positivity that I knew I needed to share this, especially to people with disabilities. Working in disability I seen a huge gap, there was basically no where for people with disabilities to gain the experience of strength training and feel the sense of community that I got to experience. Once I realised this, I endeavoured to start building a community to enrich lives.

COACH ALICIA “MRS. MOOSE” SHANNOS

Alicia Shannos “Mrs.Moose”

My Fitness journey started years before becoming a coach. I used to battle with weight and mental health issues, but then I discovered fitness and it completely transformed my life. Not just physical changes – also gaining the confidence and strength to be a positive role model for my kids and pursue a career in disability support training.

Through functional training and HIIT, I found a passion that goes way beyond just working out. I learned to appreciate the things I can do, and now I’m passionate about helping others do the same. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where everyone can feel comfortable, build confidence, and work towards a healthier mind and body. I believe that fitness is a journey, not a destination, and that everyone deserves to feel empowered and strong. Let’s work together to break down barriers and celebrate our unique abilities.
